The Interior Life
Katherine Blake (aka Dorothy J Heydt)
313 pages

An American housewife daydreams about the fantasyland of Demoura. A Shadow lays across the land, while in real life she begins to explore doing something else with her life then being a mother and housefrau. Her own triumps and problems mirror those of Demoura's and the question remains open whether or not Demoura is real or just fantasy.

Well written, the two narratives are neatly interweaved with one another, which should have been made clear by the fonts used, but sadly the production values of this book aren't up to the writing. Released in 1990 with almost no promotion by a publisher better known for mil sf, it's no wonder this book remained (undeservedly) obscure. These days it has become a minor classic with the connaisseurs of rec.arts.sf.written. If you can find it, do read it.
