Robert Bollard, over at Ilya’s, commenting on the philistine remark by 300‘s director, Zack Snyder that you should “Thank Thermopylae for your Starbucks”:

Simonides might have phrased my last comment more elegantly:

    I know we should snicker appreciatiatively (or maybe just smile a wry little smile; public intellectuals don’t do snickering) at the implied nod to a shared classical education.

    But speaking personally I’m more inclined to ask “Up yourself, much?”
